Riding my cousins’ bike and walking to work.
Through the brisk fall nights, humid rainy days, freezing winter nights, and the scorching summer days, I would walk or ride my cousins’ bicycle to work. When I first started working at Wal-Mart, I had nothing. I just wanted to make some money so I could “get by”. I never wanted overtime and I didn’t see a bright future for myself. I felt like a cog, that could be replaced at any moment. I would show up early every day, wait to clock in on time, then work until it was time to go. I never put much effort in because I felt lost. I remember when I would walk/ ride the bike to work, I would always try to avoid traffic-filled roads because I was embarrassed about how I had to get to work. After a few months of riding my cousins’ bike, it begun to fall apart and it ended up breaking, so I started walking because that was my only option. This picture was taken on March 4th, 2017. It was a lock I had to buy to ride my cousins’ bike to work, so no one would take it. I took a picture of the lock just in case I forgot the combination.
